Horse-fly
The pale giant horse-fly is a big (from 19 to 24 mm in length) blood sucking fly. They are common in the whole Europe, Siberia and Northern Asia. They prefer forest edges, floodplain meadows, swampy areas, where female horse-flies attack big domestic and wild animals. Males feed exceptionally on flower nectar and sweet tree sap. A horse-fly can be used as bait for fishing roach, common rudd and small chub. Horse-fly is suited both for surface fishing and medium-depth fishing.
